Rare 1930s/40s Vintage National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis Sterling Silver Pin In Great Condition. Marked Sterling On Back.

This collectible pin measures approximately 3/4" tall.

The National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis is now widely known as the March of Dimes. This pin was a reward given to volunteers or donors who contributed to the fight against polio during the mid-20th century.

These pins were part of grass-roots fundraising efforts to fund polio research—which led to the Salk vaccine in 1955—and to provide care for those afflicted by the disease.

The number "5" in the shield at the bottom signifies a 5-year service milestone, indicating the wearer had been a dedicated volunteer or chairman for five years

President Franklin D. Roosevelt, himself a polio survivor, founded the organization in 1938.

An Awesome Rare Vintage Pin For The Collector.
