Vintage Style Quilled or Paper Scrolled Flowers Silver Tone Brooch Pendant In Great Condition. Measures approximately 2" tall
This is a reproduction of a vintage style women’s brooch, popular in Victorian times. The outer “frame” is molded in a silver-toned metal oval cartouche with a curled inner frame. ( I have no idea of metal content.) There is a clear, domed cover in plastic that corresponds to the glass domes used in the last quarter of the 19th century. Within that dome is a bouquet of tiny quilled flowers. Quilling involves the tight rolling of papers and glueing to render three dimensional objects. Here the quilling in done in miniature with some flower heads barely larger than the head of a pin! The background is an old blue color and the various leaves,stems and flowers are red, white and green. There is a metal loop for a chain on rear side so besides use as a brooch, it could also be worn as a necklace.
