This vintage Japanese obidome, is a specialized accessory used to decorate the sash (obi) of a kimono. Based on its design and similar identified pieces, it was likely made during the mid-20th century (ca. 1920s–1960s).

The central stone is a banded agate (often carnelian agate), characterized by its striking orange-red color and natural circular or "eye" banding.

While it resembles a standard brooch, it is specifically designed as an obidome. It is typically threaded onto a thin cord called an obijime, which is then tied over the kimono's main sash.

It also features a simple gold-tone or brass bezel frame, often with small prongs to hold the cabochon-cut stone in place.

An Awesome Vintage Brooch/Pendant For The Collector.
