Pretty 1960s/70s Quilled Bamboo or Rattan Folk Art Brooch In Great Condition.
This lovely pin measures approximately 2" tall.
It is crafted from very thin, pliable strips of dyed natural bamboo, reed, or rattan. The individual strands are tightly layered together alongside thin metallic accent wires.
These mid-century sculptural accessories were primarily handcrafted by artisans in Taiwan and exported globally during the 1960s and 1970s.
The style uses an intricate quilling or filigree technique to form layered, geometric loops that resemble traditional Asian decorative knots (such as Japanese Mizuhiki or Chinese knotting styles). They are highly collectible today due to their lightweight structure and retro appeal.
