Cool 1960s Vintage Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Bobcat rank Brass Pin In Great Condition.
This great pin measures approximately 3/4" in diameter.
The Bobcat pin represents the very first rank a Cub Scout earns, signifying their understanding of basic scouting principles like the Scout Oath and Law.
The words "CUB SCOUTS B.S.A." indicate this pin was produced after 1948; earlier 1938–1947 versions used the text "CUBS B.S.A.". In the late 1940s to early 1950s, the spelling changed from two words ("BOB CAT") to the single word ("BOBCAT") seen on your pin.
Historically, when a Scout first earned this pin, it was pinned to their uniform upside down. It could only be turned right-side up after the Scout performed a "good deed.
