Colorful Vintage 1970s Handmade Hmong Doll Folk Art In Traditional Dress In Good Condition.
This great doll measures approximately 7 1/2" tall
This handmade Hmong folk doll (also called Miao in China), is a type of ethnic souvenir and cultural piece commonly made by Hmong communities in Laos, Thailand, Vietnam, or by Hmong refugees in the U.S.
Features a wooden painted face with simple black eyes, lashes, and red lips — a common construction method for these dolls.
Vibrant embroidered clothing using traditional Hmong paj ntaub (“flower cloth”) techniques: geometric patterns, repeating circular motifs, and bold colors (hot pink, lime green, orange, purple).
Wrapped headdress with tassels at the back, typical of certain Hmong subgroups (often White or Green Hmong styles).
Wooden peg legs wrapped in striped fabric, this is how many of these dolls were built so they could stand.
