This piece features a gold-tone slide-on mechanism with a distinctive oval frame and an attached twisted rope chain. Also features an Art Deco-inspired "wing" or chevron-style frame on the bottom part suspended by two chains from a standard tie bar.
Unlike a standard tie clip that pinches the tie to the shirt, a tie chain (or tie stay) uses a top bar that slides onto the shirt placket. The chain then drapes over the front of the necktie to hold it loosely in place.
