Pretty 1985 Vintage Metropolitan Museum of Art (MMA) Gold Tone Blue Enamel Clip Bookmark In Great Condition.
This colorful piece measures approximately 2" tall.
This clip-style bookmark is crafted from etched brass and hematite overlay with colored enameling.
This great bookmark features "William the Hippo".
The blue hippopotamus is the unofficial mascot of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.The Origin: It is modeled after a famous ancient Egyptian faience (ceramic) hippopotamus figurine dating back to the Middle Kingdom (ca. 1961–1878 B.C.). The body of the hippo is decorated with river plants like lotuses to depict its natural marsh habitat.
The gold-tone pointed metal backing under the oval medallion functions as a clip to slide over a book page and save your place.
